France is served by an excellent Motorway, or Autoroute, system and its' road network is probably one of the best signposted in the world, even for those with only the most basic grasp of the language - making driving through France a pure hassle free joy....... |
FROM IRELAND Irish Ferries sail direct from Rosslare to Cherbourg ; Brittany Ferries sail from Cork to Roscoff -- both are overnight trips and varying levels of cabin accommodation can be reserved in advance, allowing one to arrive in France the following morning, refreshed and ready for the journey and the wonders ahead .......... |
THROUGH THE U. K. By comparison, it is even cheaper to travel Landbridge from Ireland to France through the U. K. P&O Stenaline's H.S.S. Fastferry travels Dunlaoghaire to Holyhead in 99 mins.; Both Irish Ferries & Stenaline operate from Dublin Port to Holyhead -- an early sailing allows one to cross England to Dover or Folkestone, select from a range of options to cross the English Channel & overnight in France that night. |

FROM THE U. K. If travelling Landbridge from Ireland through Holyhead, it's best to pick up the M.6/M.1/M.25 & take the M.20 out to Folkestone or Dover. From the M.6 on it's all Motorway - allow 6 1/2 hrs. driving time on average. Channel crossings are flexible & in almost all cases transferable & sail through the night. Choose from the Eurotunnel, P&O Stena Line or Hovercraft & book online from our Links page or compare the best Discount prices at our Ferryoffers Link. Taking the earliest H.S.S. sailing to Holyhead one can be in Calais at 6p.m. at your ease. From the U. K. itself one can choose from the above crossings or sail Portsmouth - Le Havre or Cherbourg (P&O) ; or Portsmouth - Caen / Cherbourg / Roscoff or St. Malo (Brittany Ferries). Don't forget to allow + 1 Hour time difference arriving in France. |
FLY / DRIVE For those who wish to fly, Ryanair operate up to 16 flights each-way per day between Dublin and Stanstead, London. From Stanstead you can select from flights direct to Perpignan, Carcasonne or Nimes. Avail of the special Hertz Rent-a-Car offers from Ryanair or compare best rent-a-car prices from our Links. Perpignan is a 40 minute drive to Louvillage; Carcassonne a 1 hour drive and Nimes is an hour & a half away.
