FROM  CALAIS
By road to Valras-Plage is roughly a 10 hr. drive, and all but 7 miles of the journey is served by splendid tolled Autoroute (ie. Motorway). Taking a route East of (avoiding) Paris one skirts Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Lyon, Nimes and Montpellier, before leaving the autoroute at Beziers for the short 5 mile drive to Valras-Plage and Louvillage. If travelling Landbridge from Ireland, it is possible to cross the U.K. & cover 2 to 4 hours of this trip on the first days journey before overnighting at one of the many hotels on our HOME page at Reims, Troyes or Dijon ( average cost €60 -€85 per Family room B&B per night) & conclude the trip with a  leisurely drive south through the beautiful rolling French countryside next day.
Directions : From Port of Calais follow signs for local roads D119-A16 onto A26 (south) to Reims; take A4(East) towards Metz; A26(SW) to Troyes; A5(E) towards Dijon; A31(S) to Dijon; A6 (S) to Lyons; A7 (S) towards Marseilles; at
A 9 bear right onto A9(SW) & follow A9 towards  Nimes/Montpellier direction Barcelona before turning off for Valras -Plage at Beziers(-Centre).
This route is recommended and with the exception of a section either side of Lyons, is relatively uncongested open Autoroute, often for miles without another car in sight!
Alternatively: One can, from Calais avail of the option of placing your car on board train on Motorail at 10.30 p.m., choose from suitable cabin accommodation and wake up at 8.30a.m. the following morning in Narbonne - a 20 minute drive from Louvillage. On production in a hospital it ensures only part - payment of a bill is required. For Doctors visits ensure that the Doctor operates within the French Insurance scheme. You will have to pay the Doctor, obtain a signed statement of treatment & send it + bills + Form E 111 to the relevant French Insurance Office . A refund is sent direct to your home address.
